Run the Jewels have shared the music video to their recently released Greg Nice line from Gang Starr’s “DWYCK” sampled song ‘Ooh LA LA.’ The song served as the first single off their forthcoming studio album ‘Run the Jewels 4’.
I know you are probably wondering how come the duo managed to get so many people together for a video admist the coronavirus pandemic. The clerified that the video was shot right before the pandemic.
“We shot this video only a few weeks before the pandemic hit with no clue as to what the future held,” RTJ said when sharing the new video on Monday. “The fact that we got the chance to do it is damn near miraculous in hindsight. In conceptualizing the video with our friends Brian and Vanessa Beletic, we imagined the world on the day that the age-old struggle of class was finally over. A day that humanity, empathy, and community were victorious over the forces that would separate us based on arbitrary systems created by man.”
“Lookin’ for Ms like I lost a friend // Jump out of my bed like, “Where the bread” // You gon’ hold a egg, waiter bring the check // When we talk, we Kalashnikov, keep us in your thoughts // Fully dressed at the crack of dawn, weapons letting off // I can hear them from the block, see them creeping through the fog // Season’s greetings, now feeding season can start, oh my God.” Run the Jewels El-P rhymes on the new song.
