Tobi Deserves The Spotlight On New Album “Still”
3rd May 2019: Nigerian-Canadian rapper Tobi is finally here with his brand new debut album and its titled “Still”, which is undoubtedly something to pay attention to.
Oluwatobi Ajibolade better know by his stage name Tobi was born Lagos, Nigeria, but later moved to Ottawa where he has being building his music, even though he has being away from away from home for a long time, he has always embraced his Nigerian heritage which has contributed undoubtedly to his music as legendary artist like Fela Kuti, Sunny Adé has in a way influence his style.
“I speak the language of music — like, I’ve been writing poetry and verses and songs since I was eight years old,” he tells Billboard. “They were rudimentary songs at first, of course, but it’s just always been my go to. It’s been instinctive for me to just write a song.”
Speaking on the album, here’s what he had to say, “I wanted to explore all the avenues that I could as an artist […] because I feel like there’s so many sonic landscapes I could live on [and] so many different genres I could live on, so why don’t I bring those into my world for this first project?”.
