Juice Wrld, Pop Smoke 8o8 wave masters

It has been an interesting week, filled with drama and lots of new music, our new 8o8 wave-masters segment appreciates all the artist who have held down these with and made it worth the while as most parts of the world continues to stay indoors due to the ongoing coronavirus virus.

1. Juice Wrld

At number one we have Juice Wrld, the rappers first posthumous highly anticipated studio album ‘Legends Never Die’ was recently released (July 10). The project attracted a whopping 74.6 million streams on it’s first day of release. The album is also expected to move 400-440k copies in the first week with about 110-125k coming from pure sales.

Juice Wrld passed away Sunday, 8th December 2019 after suffering a seizure in Chicago’s Midway airport. His flight from Cali had landed early Sunday morning, and after deplaning … witnesses who were at the scene say he suffered the seizure whereas strolling via the airport.

A big thank you to Juice Wrld for being an awesome wave-master.

2. Summer Walker

Summer Walker is second on our list, the Atlanta, Georgia born artist who is currently signed to LoveRenaissance and Interscope Records came through with an ep titled ‘Life On Earth.’ The five (5) track project featured NO1-NOAH and Partynextdoor. Her impactful contributions makes her number two (2) on our list.

3. Pop Smoke

We have been waiting for a Pop Smoke project for as long as we can remember but it’s sad his debut project had to arrive after his demise. The project titled ‘Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon’ was released by his family and estate. The album featured Future, Quavo, Lil Baby, DaBaby, Roddy Ricch, 50 Cent, DaBaby and many others.

Pop, age 20, was shot and killed back in February 2019 in his L.A. home.

4. Tiwa Savage

Lets take it to Africa, where the ‘Queen of Afrobeats’ Tiwa Savage is making waves, the Afrobeat icon this week (July 8) gifted us with a new single titled ‘Dangerous Love‘ ahead of her highly anticipated forthcoming studio album ‘CELIA,’ named after her mother.

Tiwa has been impactful over the years, making her the only female artist on our list this week.

5. Tory Lanez

No doubt, Tory lanez knowns how to show up when we need him. The Toronto Hiphop artist came through with two new songs ‘Staccato’ and ‘392’. He has previously been holding it down through his ‘Quasi’ radio show on Instagram, making Tory the last on out list.

A big thank you to all the artist that emerged as our 8o8 wave-masters for the week, see you next week for more. Stay safe.
