It seems The Weeknd is the latest victim of a leak as his new unreleased song titled ‘Leave You Alone’ has surfaced online just days after the ‘Blinding Lights’ singer re-released a version for his classic House of Balloons album.
After teasing the release of a new single ‘The Source’ through NFT (non-fungible token), the single proceeded with his plans on Saturday (April 3rd), making the track available for 15 minutes. Those who had the budget to make the purchase, were treated to a new release in the form of his “Leave You Alone / The Source” track.
NFTs are a class of cryptocurrency assets in which each item or token, is entirely unique and are becoming the hot commodity at a time when artists of all kind are finding new avenues to make money. It’s a unique sale where it’s attached with a computer code so that only one person than own that piece.
The Weeknd said: “Blockchain is democratizing an industry that has historically been kept shut by the gatekeepers. I’ve always been looking for ways to innovate for fans and shift this archaic music biz and seeing NFT’s allowing creators to be seen and heard more than ever before on their terms is profoundly exciting. I intend to contribute to this movement and can see that very soon it will be weaved into the music industry’s mechanics.”
Below, you can take a look at details on how to look for the song.
