On Friday, 4th December, Teyana Taylor put out word on social media that she will be retiring from music which got her fans emotional, the reason for the retirement was that she was ‘super under appreciated’ and ‘overlooked.’
“I ain’t gone front in times of feeling super under appreciated as a artist, receiving little to no real push from the machine, constantly getting the shorter end of the stick, being overlooked, I mean the list on and on lol…” she wrote.
“So I’m retiring this chapter of my story with the comfort that i can depart with peace of mind seeing that all the hard work & passion put was indeed loved & supported somewhere in the world!” she added.
The Harlem native has now gone on Instagram live to clarify the post saying that her aim was to warn her label since she feels she doesn’t receive enough support from them. She’s signed to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music and Def Jam Records but she did not name a specific entity. The 29-years-old also called out her label for not supporting her enough.
“Yes I am going to feel under appreciated if I’m putting in 110% and my label is giving me.. they are reciprocating 10% of that. I constantly feel alone, I constantly feel unappreciated, I constantly feel failed.”
