NiNE8 Collective new song Luv U Do

Following up on their double A-Side single ‘Cold Hands / Gotta Get’ and their recent mind-blowing show at London’s Jazz Cafe, NiNE8 Collective has shared a new song titled ‘Luv U Do’ and you can listen to it below.

The crew made up of Lava La Rue, Biig Piig, Mac Wetha, NAYANA IZ, Lorenzorsv, Nige, Bone Slim, L!BAAN and Kxrn have slowly been making themselves known on a global spectrum, the group in a recent interview with theguardian, revealed what they are really about.

“We have a global mindset,” Nige (real name Niall Williams) said. “Everyone’s got things about them that are much broader than this one city. Nayana represents her Indian heritage, Lava and Lorenzo are Caribbean, and I have family in Ireland.” Each member is free to pursue solo recordings, too, and Smyth moved to LA last year to further her solo career. “We can’t put our lives on pause or say we’re never going to leave London – if anything, this is a chance to expand things,” she reasons, saying of logistics: “We’ll make it work, we always do.” She made sure her contract with Sony said she’s always free to continue Nine8. “I don’t feel like I would be myself without the collective.”

Speaking on the song, Lava La Rue says: “‘Luv U Do’ was my first ever contribution of co-production made specifically for the collective, me and Nige started off the instrumental together with some drums & pad that I wanted to give a UK trip hop Massive Attack/Moby-era of early 2000s trancey music. I feel like it’s coming back. Mac Wetha and Bone were also present in the studio and I thought ‘since Mac is normally the one behind the laptop, he should be one of the first to get up and perform a verse while myself and Nige engineer’.”
