R&B/ Hip Hop artist Keyonte sits down to talk about his career. He was born in Dallas Tx and moved to Atlanta (Douglasville) when he was 9 years old. Around age 3 he shared that he told his mom he wanted to be a singer and an actor. “We moved to the Atl area and there was an audition for the Sweet Auburn Festival and I sang I WANT YOU BACK BY JACKSON 5 and received a standing ovation and from that moment, that feeling, that rush of being accepted and praised felt natural as if I was born to do this”. After his huge show out his mom knew he was talented and took flight with his career. He’s shared the same stage with Mulatto, Jaquees, Vedo, QT Jazz and more… Keyonte was young getting acknowledged by radio stations and coming up in his city. During this time he was introduced to a small label which then lead to a bigger label. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned so he has reminded as an Independent Artist.
Keyonte is not only an artist but also a actor and dancer. “I’ve done some acting, a couple of commercials, a tv show and movies I wanted to rebrand myself as an artist so I left TYREKE my first name to acting and used my middle name KEYONTE solely for music”. You can even find him in Homicide Hunter. Many people would assume that he started his career as a singer, but he didn’t. He started off as a dancer then paved his way to the acting industry when he was 10.
Janet Jackson and Chris brown inspired Keyonte to sing but as a child Michael Jackson music was his favorite. He can sing almost all MJ songs. “I would not have ever started this journey if the death of MJ hadn’t happened, his unfortunate death put me in many places”.
Unlike most artist he doesn’t have a big team. He shares how close he and his mom are and how she handles all his business side and his music is aunthenticly written by him. He’s currently working on an EPK and we can all hear his R&B/Hip Hop vide on all platforms very soon.
