Kendrick Lamar Protest

‘DNA’ rapper Kendrick Lamar has finally answered the call of the people as the rapper alongside DeMar DeRozan and Russell Westbrook on Sunday joined the ongoing protest in Compton.

These comes as thousands continue to take to the streets to demand for justice for the death of George Floyd who painfully died at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer. The protest erupted after footage showed Floyd begging for his life severally with his face down on the pavement as a Minneapolis police officer kneeled on his neck.

A lot of celebrities have massively contributed in demand for justice for Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor. J. Cole, Kehlani, Wale and Kanye West, to name a few have all be active in the protest.

Russell Westbrook spoke to the crowd during the protest in an effort to encourage them, “Continue to stick together,” he said. “Continue to fight for one another. Continue to lift each other up. … Continue to protect your own, protect your team, protect your family. In times like this, we need to stick together. Put a fist up.”

“Let’s get a moment of silence. For our lost ones. For their families. For their struggles,” Westbrook added with his fist in the air.

“It’s impossible for you to understand what happens today if you don’t understand the past. Let’s continue to fight,” he added on Instagram.
