Rapper Kanye Omari West, mostly know as Kanye West has filed papers with a Los Angeles County Court to switch his legal name to ‘Ye’, according to court documents obtained by Tmz.
The name ‘Ye’ and the rapper has gone a long way, it was the name of his 8th studio album released back in 2018, ever since a large majority of people have simply referred to him by the name or Yezzy. The court document shows that Kanye simply wants to be referred to as ‘Ye’, no surname, nothing else.
This is not the first time the rapper has hinted at a name change, in September 2018, he tweeted, The being formally known as Kanye West, I am YE.” Pointing to the name’s significance in the Bible, Kanye says.
“I wanted something to match my energy,” the Grammy winner told radio host Big Boy in June 2018. “I believe ‘ye’ is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible, it means ‘you.’ So I’m you, I’m us, it’s us. It went from Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye — just being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confused, everything. The album is more of a reflection of who we are.”
