According to reports from Tmz, a New Orleans artist Samuel Nicholas III, also know as Sam Skully is suing Drake over his two hit songs “In My Feelings” & “Nice For What”, claiming that the Toronto rapper used his beats without asking for permission or making payments to him.
Sam Skully claimed that the rapper in question sampled the beat to a track of his titled “Roll Call” which he recorded and released back in 2000 on CD in New Orleans. He says he was unaware of the illegal usage of his works until recently when Drake and Big Freedia’s song started climbing the charts.
He also claims that a portion of his other beat was lifted and used without permission on “Nice For What” and is seeking damages from both the artists, as well as labels Asylum, Cash Money, and Republic, all three of which were involved in releasing the material.
